Our new community member, Donna O'Meara, has renamed her home on Shangri La Circle. Formerly Deerfield, it is now "HALE KAI", which is Hawaiian for "ocean house". Pronounced HAH-lay KA-ee.
Donna says, "After living in Hawaii for 3 decades I needed to bring a bit of Aloha to Whidbey". Aloha Donna! First picture is a "before" shot to remind you how bad it looked after the March 16th storm. Now after many resident volunteers pitched in to clean up and do repairs - WOW! It looks great! Special kudos to everyone who worked so hard to make our Shangri-La beautiful again.
A beautiful golden sunrise this morning - A butterfly rests on our beach. Anyone know the type? Rob Marsicek's temporary dock repair revealed -

A bit of history: Picture is Sandy Roberts (holding the netted fish) and friend fishing off Race Lagoon. The fish is a large king just caught by Sandy. The boat is a 14 foot plank hulled Storm King outboard that Ron & Sandy's parents (Trevor & Harriette Roberts) rented at the Shangri-La Shores resort. They had 5 of these and another 5 slightly larger 16 foot Reinell inboards. You can barely make out the "Whido-Isle" logo on the side of the boat. Quite a catch, Sandy!
