"Share books -  Donate a book.  Take a book.  Return a book."  Our Lending Library is ready!

The Shangri La Shores Book Barn operates with the philosophy of "Share books:  Donate a book. Take a book. Return a book."  Our community built the Book Barn and installed it at the top of the park near the electrical pole, above the swings.  It is close to the road for easy accessibility via car or walking.  Anyone can visit to take and/or donate books to the lending library.   General guidelines and a list of materials that we don’t accept will be listed on the inside of the access door and on this website's information page.

A yearly library steward becomes the barn’s caretaker, making sure it's in good shape and that all materials are appropriate for the neighborhood.  Marilyn Pulk, 425-449-2014, is our 2017-2018 library steward.

We hope our Book Barn will help bring the community even more together to share, talk and help their neighbors.  There are endless books to share and perhaps new & fun neighborhood connections to discover – could a book club be on the horizon?  Welcome to our little Book Barn world and let’s start sharing!

Special thanks to Ron Roberts & son, Carol Green, Elise Smith and Faye Magnusson for their recent community efforts.  Ron resurfaced the shuffle board, Carol refinished picnic tables and Elise & Faye spiffed up the community entry sign area.  More volunteers are always appreciated!

·         Weeding the ivy area in the park.
·         Clean the plastic chairs in the picnic area
·         Clean the fire pit monthly, May - September

First picture is a "before" shot to remind you how bad it looked after the March 16th storm.  Now after many resident volunteers pitched in to clean up and do repairs - WOW!  It looks great!  Special kudos to everyone who worked so hard to make our Shangri-La beautiful again.

High Winds & Waves = your help is needed!

Last week's high winds & waves tore up our picnic and our boat ramp turn around areas.  Also a lot of driftwood and trash need to be removed before the damage can be assessed and plans made for repairs.  Here's a picture of the driftwood in the picnic area.  It's deeper than it looks.  Most of our gravel is gone and replaced by a thick bed of  debris:

The community is planning a work party next weekend, Saturday March 26 1-3 pm to clean up the areas.  Your help is needed! Meanwhile, this weekend Rob Marsicek, David Heron & Nancy Reed dived in to begin the job.  Much of the large pieces of driftwood were moved back to the beach:

So come out next weekend to help your community!
